Back up and running!

Hi everybody, after a long delay all services are now back up and running. In effect, there should seem to be no change as all updates were for the Virtual Environment and the security setup. The updates for the apps themselves are normal updates and the apps themselves have not changed so mostly they look and feel the same as ever.

The update of the Virtual Environment was a major step and meant that I had to reinstall the apps from scratch (compatibility issues) and here I ran into more trouble than expected. The apps I expected to be difficult to set up went like a dream and while ones I thought would be simple turned out to be nightmares. Anyway, it was a lesson in how to document your installation so that you can see the pitfalls before you start again, something I did not do the first time. I have updated the look of the internal podcast site a little and added the mentioned tracks to the podcasts that originally did not include them (the February and April 2020 podcasts) so there are some new “old” podcasts in there. By the way, the April 2020 part 1 podcast is not to everyone’s taste, there are a lot of heavy metal and psychedelic sounds in the second half of the podcast which might be a bit hard on some ears but as I do drop in on these genres every now and then myself I though it fit to put them in.

I am especially interested on how my new security setup will work. I have enrolled all my servers on CrowdSec, a community run and funded arrangement with a large number of filters to call upon. They have a very nice and simple setup with an easy to manage dashboard. If you are running any servers accessible from the internet you might like to take a look at the service under :

So, what is next? Well, yes, the last of the Misfits has to be bashed together and published but I’m going to take my time on that one and will inform you all when it is posted.

By the way, should anyone have forgotten their passwords or need any other assistance, don’t hesitate to drop me a line.

Love to all,

Paul

  1. Paul,

Well done. I can’t even begin to comprehend the work you have completed.

I, of course, have lost my password. So, a help section for dummies is required.
