This is absolutely terrible news! Procol Harum has been a constant companion over so many years with their magical music and always has been much more than just “A Whiter Shade of Pale”. Their albums were all just absolutely fantastic and were all way ahead of their time. So many of their songs were iconic and so unique in their structure and musical direction that they could not be pigeonholed to any of the genres of the day and, even now, defy definition. But the most unique and notable feature was always the vocals by Gary Brooker, he made the exceptional compositions magical, truly hypnotic. How sad to read that the last notes have already been sung. They will always be one of my favorite groups.
